Around THE VALLEY & About THE WEST

My name is Chrissie Le Marchant, and as a Blue Badge Tourist Guide of many seasons, I can offer interesting and enthusiastic guided tours of the Tamar Valley and surrounds, on so many themes or interests. Its part of my remit is to inform educate and entertain… so from ruins to shopping, wildlife to military, all the world is here in the Tamar Valley…quite a lovely river as well…

Plus I do go much further afield from Tewkesbury down to the Isles of Scilly, and from the Forest of Dean across to Salisbury, so all 6 counties of the West Country and I love every corner of it.

My 1st degree was in Geology and Geography and I have an eclectic background in mining for tin and gold, plus civil engineering, and countryside management, plus lots of hobbies such as beekeeping, handicrafts, hot air ballooning.

I can devise an itinerary to suite your group in both timing and interest.

WELCOME TO MY HOME As a professional Blue Badge Tourist Guide, Group Travel is a speciality of mine, designing itineraries, joining your group at their accommodation, meeting them at venues such as Cotehele, Buckland Abbey, the Royal Citadel, ostensibly to add that unique special interest to the visit, or travelling with them for extended tours. Think of town or countryside walks, interpretation of sites and commentary as we travel along on a coach or people carrier. I can make your guests SEE what they are looking at, and entertain them with lots of stories…

I have lived and worked in the Tamar Valley for many years in all different guises, from managing the 400 heathland acres of Kit Hill Country Park (with >10,000 archaeological remains) to being the geologist on the Saltash Tunnel when it was being excavated.
